Good morning. Does our spouse sometimes feel like they need to call for a reservation to get any quality time with us? Do you sometimes feel like everyone else gets the better part of your partner’s time and attention? If this rings a bell as it does for me then it is quite likely that our priorities are not quite in line with where they need to be. Having our priorities in order is the message Jesus offers us in today’s Gospel. He suggests that we should put aside everything else for the sake of the Kingdom. It follows that if our priorities are in order and our focus is on the Kingdom then everything else should fall in place. Jesus reminds us this morning that the focus of our lives is what really matters in our marriage. It is not the house, the car, or the money in the bank that matter, that brings us joy, but each other. If Christ is at the center of our marriage then everything will be as it needs to be. The joy of a Christ centered marriage is clearly demonstrated in research which shows that couples are less likely to get divorced if they are truly active in their faith. The key to a truly happy and joy filled marriage is for it to be Christ centered, Jesus assures us of this in today’s Gospel; and the lives of the saints, as seen in the life of Saint Ursula Ledochowska whose life we celebrate today, give witness to the importance of making Christ our number one priority. We need to trust in God and the rest will follow. If Christ is at the center of our marriage we will strive to be attendant to the needs and concerns of our partner. If we are in step with God then we will likewise be in step with each other. Make a great day!
Today we recall the good life, gifts, and work of Saint Ursula Ledochowska.
