Good morning. How different our marriage would be if we took note of the positive instead of the negative, if we were affirming instead of being critical. Both yesterday and today Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Thessalonians offers us an example of how we could make things better between ourselves and our partner. In addressing the people of Thessalonica he offers words of praise while at the same time instructing them on changing their ways. St. Paul in addressing the Thessalonians is complimentary and suggests being thankful for the opportunity to be with them. Imagine how things would be if we were to apply similar tactics in our marital relationship. This is not to suggest we ought to offer false praise or flattery to our spouse, nobody appreciates disingenuous or insincere praise. We should instead speak the truth but with sincerity and with love. Loving truth is the best approach to building trust in our marriage. Let us spend time today letting our spouse know how much they are appreciated, and let us take a moment to offer a prayer of thanksgiving for bringing our spouse into our life. Make a great day!
Today we recall the good life, gifts, and works of Saint Rose of Lima.
