Good morning. It can be a real challenge to not allow ourselves to be pulled in by the glamour of the world about us. There is a real attraction to live for the things of this world and avoid living with a purpose and direction which is Christ centered. In the words of Father Cassian Sama: “It is evident that today we have lost some of our saltiness and light. That is why we are unable to change the world for Christ. Some of us are too worldly.” The Gospel reading for today and St. Paul’s words to us today remind us that we are all called to a higher purpose in life. St. Paul notes that we are all children of the light. In marriage we are called to work together to keep one another spiritually healthy with Christ being at the center of our marriage. Christ should be at the center of all that we do as a couple. If Christ is at the center of our lives together our marriage will be reflected and serve as a light for others to see. Today’s words of Saint Paul remind us that we belong to Christ and that He calls us in marriage to a life of holiness together not only for ourselves as a couple but for others to witness. Our witness of marriage and family life when we live Christ serves as a light for all to see towards helping not just ourselves, but others keep from becoming too worldly. How might we live Christ today? Make a great day!
Today we recall the good life, gifts, and works of Saint Narcisa de Jesús Martino Morán. Narcisa was canonized a saint by Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday 12 October 2008.
