Good morning. As married folks we venture along on our journeys, and each one of our experiences are different as life takes us along many winding turns and narrow alley ways. Each of us finds ourselves on a journey with our spouse much like the two disciples in today’s Gospel story of the Way to Emmaus. Like the experience of the two disciples in today’s Gospel we don’t always recognize the goodness of Jesus in our lives and in one another. So often we miss seeing or hearing the gift of love which awaits us in each other. His gift of love for us is revealed in different ways along the way, but we need to be looking for it. Many times we travel along together without any thought or consideration for the significance of the moment, then something happens and like the two disciples we have an Emmaus moment, an awareness of just how special that other person is to us. These Emmaus moments can be a more ongoing part of our lives if we allow ourselves to be attentive to the love which awaits us. Like our saint for today, Saint Stanislaus, we must be diligent in our search for Christ’s love in our lives and exert ourselves earnestly to help each other to become what God meant each of us to be. This is not always easy, but Jesus’ gift of love is not left at the altar but accompanies us throughout our marital journey and is there for us to see us through our journey together. If we allow Christ to be at the center of our lives, then there will be no difficulty in finding His love at every turn along the way. Make a great day!
