Feast of the Martyrs of China

Good morning. What is Jesus telling us this morning in today’s Gospel? Does He mean for us to drop everything we are about and all that we do and just be about going to church? No, I think Jesus is saying go ahead and do what you do, but be about doing it for the kingdom. Be about being a husband, or a wife, or a parent but do it with a purpose and intent for the kingdom. We all want to make a difference in this world, and what greater difference can we possibly make than as parents? What greater difference can we be about for the lives of the children God entrusts to our care? The only thing I can think of is by parenting with purpose and intent for those souls entrusted to us to make it to the kingdom. This is no easy task, and if need be Jesus in today’s Gospel is saying we need to put aside everything this world deems important to get the job done. Don’t lose sight of what is really important—the kingdom. Make a great day!

Today we recall the good life, gifts, and works of the Martyrs of China.
