Feast of Saint Albert Chmielowski

Good morning. “What’s in your wallet?” In today’s Gospel Jesus reminds us that “where your treasure is there your heart will be.” Where is our treasure? Where do we place our priorities? Is our marriage the number one priority? If not, perhaps we should begin today. The number one reason couples divorce is that their priorities are misdirected. If we choose to treasure our marriage, our heart will follow. Love and happiness are not things that just happen, they are choices we make. It begins with the realization that marriage is a life long commitment. If we are committed to something we are more inclined to stick to it and invest ourselves in it. If our focus is on the things of heaven versus the things of this world it becomes much easier to get around the various hurdles we encounter and remain committed. Each of us has the key to a treasure chest filled with love and happiness beyond our imagining. If we surrender ourselves and our marriage to serving Christ, the fullness of His blessings will shine forth in our lives no matter whatever treasures we may or may not have. In the words from the CapitalOne commercial “What’s in your wallet?” Not likely to be any money, but there is a picture of my wife and companion of thirty years. Make a great day!

Today we recall the good life of Saint Albert Chmielowski. Saint Albert knew where to find real treasure; he founded the Brothers of the Third Order of Saint Francis, Servants to the Poor.
