Good morning. Marriage is certainly a true source of joy, but just like the disciples in today’s Gospel we sometimes can get distracted by daily life concerns. Sometimes it can be like looking for mushrooms, the issues and concerns that preoccupy us, like with the disciples on the way to Emmaus, distract us from appreciating what is right before us. So often we become distracted and wander our own way losing sight of our relationship with God and His place in our marriage; it is so easy to get caught up in our own individual concerns. The challenge is in making intentional choices in our marital relationship, taking time each day to deliberately remove ourselves from the issues and concerns that preoccupy our thoughts to intentionally asking ourselves where we are at in our marital journey. We need to everyday take time to pause and allow our thoughts to be opened like those of the disciples on their journey to Emmaus. Let us take time each day to reflect upon where we are at in our marital journey. A good source of help in doing so can be found at a website ForYourMarriage developed at the direction of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The Web site, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, offers practical information and resources to engaged and married couples. Make a great day!
Today we recall the good life, gifts, and works of Saint Zita.
